VP of Technology

Location: Armada, MI

We are partnering with a market-leading North American manufacturer and eCommerce brand to identify a Vice President of Technology. This executive role will lead the company’s technology vision, systems, and execution for a growth-oriented organization with a lean, high-impact IT team.

This is a hands-on, player-coach leadership opportunity for a technology executive who views systems as a core business driver and enjoys personally designing, implementing, and improving technology alongside a small team. This role is not purely strategic or oversight-focused.

The Role

The Vice President of Technology will be responsible for the hands-on design, execution, and ongoing evolution of the company’s technology ecosystem, including enterprise systems, data platforms, infrastructure, and security. As a key member of the leadership team, you will align technology initiatives with business objectives while remaining closely involved in day-to-day execution and problem-solving.

Expect to spend a meaningful portion of your time directly involved in technical work and operational problem-solving.

Success in this role requires comfort operating at both the strategic and technical levels — setting direction while staying directly engaged in the work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and execute technology strategy across ERP, applications, infrastructure, and security, with direct personal involvement in system design and implementation

  • Serve as a hands-on technical leader and escalation point for complex technology challenges

  • Evaluate, implement, and optimize emerging technologies (including AI and IoT) in partnership with cross-functional teams

  • Design and maintain data architecture, integrations, and business intelligence to support operational and executive decision-making

  • Personally oversee cybersecurity posture, risk management, and disaster recovery planning

  • Lead major technology initiatives end-to-end, including hands-on vendor selection, configuration, and optimization

  • Operate in a player-coach model, contributing directly while mentoring and developing a small IT team

  • Ensure reliable, scalable, and customer-focused technology operations across manufacturing, eCommerce, and corporate functions

Qualifications

  • 4+ years in a senior technology leadership role such as Vice President of Technology, Vice President of IT, Director of Technology, Director of IT, Head of IT, or equivalent, preferably in a mid-market or growth-stage environment

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise systems

  • Strong experience with modern cloud and SaaS-based technology stacks

  • Solid understanding of data architecture, integrations, and BI platforms

  • Exposure to IoT or connected product ecosystems is a plus

  • Experience managing budgets, vendors, and priorities in lean operating environments

  • Ability to translate technical decisions into practical business outcomes

  • Comfortable balancing strategic planning with hands-on execution

Candidates who prefer highly layered, enterprise-scale environments may find this role more execution-focused than expected.

Work Environment

  • Hybrid role with a strong preference for onsite leadership

  • Core business hours Monday–Friday, with occasional off-hours work for critical initiatives

  • Some physical activity required when partnering with manufacturing and operational teams

Why This Opportunity

This role offers the opportunity to step into a visible, high-impact executive leadership position where technology directly influences growth, operations, and customer experience. The organization values ownership, practicality, and collaboration, and is seeking a leader who enjoys staying close to the technology while building systems that scale with the business.
